Do I still need bathroom bonding in a modern installation?

If all circuits in the location are RCD-protected and the main bonding is in place, supplementary bonding can often be omitted — but we document the justification.

My water pipe is plastic from the street. Do I need to bond it?

No — bonding attaches to extraneous conductive parts. A plastic main supply is not extraneous, and we’ll label it so the next sparky knows.

What size main earth should I have?

10 mm² for most Watford supplies (TN-C-S). Older TN-S or TT installations may need different sizing — we check on the visit.

Can you run a new earth to an outbuilding?

Yes — either as an extension of the main earth or a dedicated TT rod, depending on distance and supply type.

How long does the work take?

1–2 hours for a main earth upgrade, longer if we need to access hidden pipework.

Will this fix my EICR C2?
